1. Establish a bankroll of which you are comfortable with. Never bet
with more than you can afford to lose. Set a limit as to the maximum you
can tolerably expend and stick with it!
2. Never bet more than 20% of your total bankroll on one play. Doubling
down and attempting to parlay your bets almost always ends in disaster.
These should not be options to an authentic sports investor. Your goal
should be to make money in the long-run, not on one big game. It is easy
to get frustrated after a big loss and want your money back right away,
but remember that it is impossible to win every play.
3. Do not get lazy with you bets. Do not bet on games just because they are
televised or your favorite team is playing. True sports investors only
bet on well researched games. Try to concentrate on the games with the
best value.
4. Choose a well-documented handicapper. Look for results first! Take the
time to research many handicappers. The most imporant thing you can do
is to find a 'capper that is monitored so that you are sure their plays
are winning when they say they are. Wait for a week or a few weeks into
the season to see what kind of money a handicapper can make you over the
long haul.
These rules have been established for a long, long time. I am by no means
the inventor, or first handicapper to relay these rules. But, as
football season approaches there may be many newbies to sports
investing, or those who haven't seen the rules. For those of you, i urge
you, follow these rules and you will soon see how you can turn sports
gambling into sports investing. I hope the rules have provided a great
deal of help to those who come across them. Here's to a successful
football season and to many years of prosperous sports investment. Good
Luck!
